INTRODUCTION
It gets lonely hiding out in The Wilderness sometimes, waiting for Humans to stumble upon you, so why not go to them? In this Twisted Cryptids Expansion, you'll get to cozy up by the fire in a Cabin in the Rest Area, giving you new ways to interact with Humans (including Influencers!) and gain the upper hand. Get ready to chill with Yeti and Death Worm... It's gonna be a wild time.
- 4 tarot-sized Cryptid cards (2 standard, 2 lenticular)
- 18 Sighting cards
- 30 Action cards
- 6 Event cards
- 6 double-sided Myth tokens
- 4 Hidden trait cards
- 9 Cabin tiles
- 6 Influencer tokens
- 6 Influencer meeples
- 6 Hiding Spot tokens
- 2 Cryptid meeples
- 3 card dividers
Adding the Yeti or Not Expansion to Twisted Cryptids allows you to play with up to 6 players. When playing with this expansion, you'll get to interact with famous Influencers and explore the Rest Areas and the Cabins where the Humans stay! During the setup, add the Action, Event, and Hidden Trait cards from this expansion to the corresponding Twisted Cryptids decks, and place the Influencer tokens in their corresponding Rest Areas. Note: You may replace the Influencer tokens with the corresponding Influencer meeples instead. If you do, return the Influencer tokens to the game box.
Shuffle the Cabin tiles, then place one face up next to each of the three Rest Areas. Return any unused Cabin tiles to the game box.
When placing your Hiding Spot tokens, you may place one Hiding Spot token on one of the three Cabin tiles instead of on a Site in The Wilderness. You may only have a Hiding Spot token on one Cabin tile at a time, and you may not have more then one Hiding Spot token on that Cabin tile.
After placing your third Hiding Spot token, replace one Human token on a Site without an Influencer token with an Influencer token of the same Flavor from the corresponding Rest Area. After each player has replaced a Human toen with an Influencer token, setup may proceed as normal.
Note: When playing with 4 players, no more than 3 players may have a Hiding Spot token at any one Site; however, when playing with 5 or 6 players, up to 4 players may have a Hiding Spot token at the same Site.
The Yeti or Not Expansion includes Action cards with effects that say "TURN ONE." These are powerful effects, and you may only play these effects on your first turn during the Day; hoever, each of these Action cards are OR cards whose second effect you may play on any turn as normal.
The Yeti or Not Expansion also introduces a new Function called Dash, which allows you to move into and out of the Cabins during the Day.
- Dash: Move one of your Hiding Spots from a Site in The Wilderness to a Cabin or from a Cabin to a Site in The Wilderness (They'll never think to look for you there!)
Note: Using Dash does not allow you to break any of the standard Hiding Spot token placement rules. For example, if you already have a Hiding Spot token on a Cabin, you may not move a Hiding Spot onto a Cabin.
INFLUENCERS
Cryptids aren't the only ones pulling the strings around here; Influencers have heard about The Wilderness and they've come to check it out! Influencers are special Humans, and though they gave the same Flavors as other Humans, they also have a certain je ne sais quoi that appeals to the masses.
Each round after Dawn, the Influencers will make their moves and the First Player will resolve the following steps:
- For each Influencer in the Rest Areas, Attract 1 non-Influencer Human of the corresponding Flavor from the Site in The Wilderness with the most Humans of that Flavor.
- For each Influencer in The Wilderness, Attract 1 non-Influencer Human of the corresponding Flavor to the Site of the Influencer.
For each step, the First Player resolves the Influencers individually, in the order of their choosing.
Note: While Influencers cannot "influence" each other, each Influencer is considered a Human of their corresponding Flavor. Any effect that would work on a Human of that Flavor will work on an Influencer of that Flavor.
CABINS
Ever wonder where the Humans go when they leave The Wilderness? Now you can see for yourself! Each of the nine Cabins has a unique effect that can give you extra leverage in your race to gain the status of True Legend, but only if you can get the right number of Humans to join you.
Anytime you would place a Hiding Spot on a Site, you may instead place it on one of the three available Cabins if you do not already have a Hiding Spot on a Cabin.
Note: Cabins are not considered Sites; instead they are a second type of location on which you may place Hiding Spots.
Each round at Dusk, before determining the Site at which the Encounter occurs, you will resolve the Cabin effects. In player order, if you have a Hiding Spot on a Cabin you may choose to use its effect. If you do, resolve the effect, then leave the Cabin by moving your Hiding Spot directly to the right of the Cabin. After each player has had a chance to use the effect of a Cabin they are on, determine the Site at which the Encounter occurs.
During the Night, before moving a Hiding Spot token or placing a Hiding Spot token from one of your Stacks, if you left a Cabin you must first place that Hiding Spot token on a Site or a Cabin, then continue the Night as normal. During the Night, you may not place any Hiding Spot token on the Site at which the Encounter occured if you revealed a Sighting or a Cabin you left during the Dusk.
